The Ultimate 7-Day Itinerary for Zion National Park Resorts

Looking for Zion National Park resorts perfect for a romantic weekend getaway? With our on-site spa, delicious restaurant, and close proximity to Zion National Park, Flanigan’s Resort is the perfect spot for a quick getaway.

But if it’s your first time visiting Zion National Park, planning a weekend getaway is a big mistake. While you can do a quick tour of the highlights in a day or two, that’s hardly enough time to experience all that this incredible national park has to offer, let alone experience the many amenities and features you’ll find in your Zion resort.

We recommend a minimum of a one-week stay for your first visit. With 7 days, you’ll get to do some hiking, enjoy a unique activity like an off-road adventure or an e-bike ride through the park, and still have plenty of time to enjoy Flanigan’s Resort’s many on-site amenities. Keep reading for the ultimate itinerary for your 7-day trip.

Day One: Arrival Day

It’s the first day of your Zion adventure! How far you’re traveling and when you plan to get in will impact how you spend this day. Getting in sometime in the evening or late afternoon? Dinner at our on-site restaurant, Spotted Dog, and an evening at the resort is a great way to relax after a long day of travel.

Day Two: Take on a Challenging Trail

If you’re planning to take on Zion’s most famous trail, Angels Landing, during your trip, it’s a good idea to do so early in your trip. Your legs aren’t tired from a week of hiking and exploring, and you’ll have more energy to get to the top.

You will need a permit to hike this trail. If you’ve planned your trip at least a few months in advance, you’ll have two chances to get a permit; the Seasonal Lottery and the Day-Before Lottery. If you can’t get a permit for the second day of your trip, don’t fret. If you’re able to get one for another day, you can simply move these daily itineraries around. Can’t get a permit during your trip? There are plenty of other great trails to choose from.

Day Three: Give Your Legs a Break

After a challenging hike like Angels Landing, you’ll want to give your legs a break. You’ll have a few options for this day. You could spend a day relaxing at Flanigan’s Resort and enjoying the pool or relaxing with a good book on our picturesque grounds. Or, if you prefer something a little more exciting, consider booking an off-road tour.

At Flanigan’s Resort, we’ve partnered with Zion Jeep Tours to make it easy for guests to enjoy a heart-pounding off-road adventure. They offer a variety of tour options, including short afternoon tours and full-day adventures to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. You can book tours through Zion Jeep Tours and charge them to your room.

Day Four: Hiking, Shopping, and Fine Dining

After a day off of your feet, it’s time to head back to the park! Hop on the Springdale Shuttle or walk to the entrance to the park, then climb aboard the Zion Canyon Shuttle for a ride into the Lower Canyon. You can get off at different stops to take pictures, visit the Zion Lodge, and even enjoy a few hikes. Consider packing a lunch or snacks if you want to stay in the park for the day.

If you don’t want to spend the whole day hiking and enjoying the park, hop back on the shuttle to head into Springdale. You can use the Springdale Shuttle to get around and visit the many art galleries and other shops in town. Pick up some special souvenirs, and try a local restaurant, or head back to Flanigan’s for another delicious meal and maybe a drink or two at Spotted Dog.

Day Five: Cruise the Park on Two Wheels

You’re headed back into Zion today, but don’t hop on the shuttle just yet! Instead, today you’ll be cruising the park on two wheels. Flanigan’s Resort has partnered with Zion Peddler to make it easy for our guests to rent e-bikes during their visit. These e-bikes are beginner-friendly, and make it easy to get around the park and Springdale. Charge your full-day or multi-day rental to your room, and get ready to experience Zion from a whole new angle. You can park your bike at trailheads to do some hiking today, too.

Day Six: Indulge in a Spa Day

Your week of adventure may be coming to an end, but it’s not over just yet! Today, treat yourself to some relaxation with a day at Deep Canyon Spa. Visit our website before your trip to check out the Spa Menu and choose from a variety of massage and facial treatment options. Set aside some time for quiet contemplation in our Hilltop Labyrinth, or book a private mat pilates or yoga class.

If you haven’t already, use the afternoon to take a drive through the Zion Mt. Carmel Tunnel, into Zion’s Upper Canyon. Here, you’ll find several overlooks with great views of the canyon and the park’s famous peaks.

Day Seven: Making the Most of Your Last Day

We recommend saving the last day of your stay to do anything you might have missed during the rest of your trip. Spend the morning hiking any trails you were hoping to experience but hadn’t had time for. Explore Springdale and do some shopping. Or, repeat something that you enjoyed during the rest of your trip, like another day of riding e-bikes or one last massage before you head home!

Planning the Ultimate Stay at Zion National Park Resorts

If you’re short on time, a quick weekend stay at the best Zion National Park resorts can be a chance to relax, reset, and get a taste for Zion. But we recommend at least a week at Flanigan’s Resort for your first visit to get to experience more of what Zion and our resort have to offer!
